CENTRE FOR RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND CONSERVATION OF HIMALAYAN FORESTRY RESOURCES (CRDHFR)

The objectives of the Society are as follows:-

1. To advice Uttarakhand Forest Department in deciding the strategies for conservation of rare, endangered and threatened species found in Himalayan Region.
2. To assist Uttarakhand Forest Department in development of appropriate techniques for in-situ conservation and propagation of such rare, endangered and threatened species found in Himalayan Region.
3. To undertake the assessment and impact of climate change in Himalayan Region and its biodiversity including migration pattern of species and their carbon sequestration potential.
4. To undertake various socio-economic studies on livelihood issues of local community with development of medicinal & aromatic plants, fuel wood species, fodder species and various bamboo species in Himalayan Region including study of energy plantations.
5. To assist the Uttarakhand Forest Department in development of most productive clones of agro forestry species and also explore new suitable agro forestry species for the region.
6. To advice the Uttarakhand Forest Department regarding introduction of Himalayan species found in neighbouring Himalayan states / countries.
7. To undertake scientific studies on management of natural resources and carrying capacity of forests.
8. To prepare a reliable database of the forestry resources and related issues of Uttarakhand.
9. To assist Uttarakhand Forest Department in propagation and implementation of successful experiments and nursery techniques.
10. To assist Uttarakhand Forest Department in development of appropriate infrastructure for such research and development activities.
11. To assist Uttarakhand Forest Department in preparation of inventory of sufficient capacity of high quality seeds of various species.
12. To advice Uttarakhand Forest Department in adopting best research practices based on study of other states / countries.
13. To raise resources for fulfillment of the objectives of the Society.
14. To carry out any other activity to fulfill the above objectives.
15. To undertake and provide for publication of research papers and journals for above objectives.
