Kalika Research range has its headquar in Kalika, Ranikhet, at an elevation of 1700 m above mean sea level. Kalika research centre spread over 85 hectares. It is situated at about 6 kms from Ranikhet – Almora road. It was established under Silviculturist Hill Division as a research unit in the year 1960 and was later upgraded to an independent Range. The flora of Ranikhet can be categorized into tropical, Himalayan, sub – tropical and sub-alipne vegetation. As the climatic conditions prevailing here range from temperate to Sub – arctic, Ranikhet is highly rich in biodiversity. The primary goal of Kalika Research range is to document and conserve various aspects of this biodiversity.
