Gopeshwar Research range is headquartered at Gopeshwar, at an elevation of 1543m above mean sea level. It was established under Silviculturist Hill Division as a Research Range. The area of Gopeshwar range covers subtropical deciduous dry and moist forests to temperate forests and alpine moist meadows. Chamoli district is highly rich in floral and faunal diversity. The primary goal of Gopeshwer Research range is to document and conserve various aspects of biodiversity of this region.
