Vision

Conservation and improvement of biodiversity along with socio-economic development and facilitate research-based management for sustainable and of forests, timber and non-timber forest produce, and other natural resources so as to improve livelihoods.

Mission

To conduct research activities for the scientific management and conservation of forests, and to improve the livelihood of the forest-dependent communities, so as to resolve challenges related to demand-supply of forest produce, environmental imbalance, human-wildlife conflicts.

Objectives

  1. To increase the productivity of natural forests, plantations and agroforestry systems.
  2. To produce high quality planting material, seeds and saplings.
  3. To improve forest management practices using statistical studies.
  4. To conserve and improve biodiversity for sustainability of natural resources.
  5. To develop and encourage medicinal and aromatic plants, fodder species, fuel species, bamboos and other forest produce for livelihood improvement of local communities dependent upon forests.
